Rossendale Conservative Councillors welcomed the news that Hyndburn Council have teamed up with Lancashire County Council and are giving away free compost to residents following the success of their garden waste recycling scheme. But they question why such an offer hasn’t been made to Rossendale residents.
Conservative Group Leader, and County Councillor, Cllr. Darryl Smith commented:
“It is clear that the garden waste recycling scheme has been a success in Hyndburn, to such a point, that Hyndburn Council, in conjunction with Lancashire County Council, are able to give away ten tonnes of compost back to residents as a thank you. I would like to know why such a scheme hasn’t been taken up by Rossendale Council.
Conservative Councillor Granville Morris added:
“The scheme has clearly been a success in Hyndburn, yet the garden waste recycling service in Rossendale is one of the services that could be cut as the Council looks for £1.3million savings. Why is it that Hyndburn have made a success of this scheme yet Rossendale haven’t?"
