“Right to Buy is Back” is the message from Jake Berry MP, who is launching a new campaign to help local tenants buy their own home.
Working with local housing providers Twin Valley Homes and Green Vale Homes, Jake is hoping that more people will make 2014 the year they take the first step on the property ladder.
“I have already held meetings with our local housing providers to get the campaign started. I want to help families here in East Lancashire who work hard and want to get on to achieve their dream of home ownership.
“For years the Right to Buy was slowly strangled, with a miserly cap on discounts killing the prospect of home ownership for most social tenants. I don’t think governments should be in the business of vetoing aspiration.”
Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Eric Pickles MP added:
“We will also continue to plough the cash from additional sales back into delivering new affordable homes for rent, which will soon help us reach the fastest rate of affordable house building for 20 years.”
