Jake Berry MP has welcomed new statistics showing the number of people out of work in Rossendale and Darwen has decreased by almost a quarter in the last year.
Unemployment is now just 3.4%, with 1,696 out-of-work claimants in Rossendale and Darwen last month. At the same time last year, the number was 2,220.
Youth unemployment has also dropped by 40% in two years.
“Businesses here in Rossendale and Darwen are rising to the challenge of creating jobs and we’re determined to ensure that all hardworking people benefit from the recovery.
“It’s great news that unemployment is falling here and that we’re well below the national rate of 4%.
“There is always more to do, but these figures are very encouraging.”
