Jake Berry MP has welcomed a council-organised clean up session following his campaign to ‘Tidy the Tower’.
Jake will be joining local volunteers on Monday 25 November to help clean up Darwen’s most famous landmark.
“I’m delighted that the council have listened to our campaign.
“On a recent visit, we picked up a carrier bag full of empty beer cans, the leftovers from an impromptu firework display and saw large amounts of new graffiti on the dome.
“Having it such a mess portray a negative image for our more iconic landmark here in Darwen.
“I would like to encourage as many people as possible to help us tidy the tower.”
Wet weather clothing is being provided by Darwen Town Council and the Bridgewater will be serving a hot buffet for volunteers.
Volunteers are asked to meet outside Scouts Hut, Manor Road at 11am.
