Consumers in the Darwen area are being urged to "Shop Local" in a concerted campaign to persuade them to support the town"s businesses, breathe new life into its economy - and do their bit to combat global warming.

We will be meeting and working with local businesses and looking to help in anyway that we can to promote the Market and Shop Traders in Darwen.

"Darwen still has an excellent range of small, many of them family-run, shops and Market Stalls, but they need local people"s support, if they are to continue to thrive in the future," says Jake Berry, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Rossendale and Darwen

" Shop Local aims to raise awareness of the need to back local businesses to preserve the unique character and economic viability of the town centre for generations to come.

"Many people mistakenly believe that shopping locally costs more - but if factors, such as travel, time and costs in transporting larger items home, are taken into account, the overall cost is often higher.
